With a warm Mediterranean climate, Santa Barbara is a pretty glorious place to live and visit. The coast of Santa Barbara is at the base of the Santa Ynez Mountains, a transverse (runs East to West) mountain range, thus creating a terraced community of homes known as the American Riviera.
The coastal mountains and beautiful sandy beaches of the Santa Barbara Coast make for some amazing kayaking and backpacking adventures. Surfing, swimming, sailing, and Stand-Up Paddle boarding (SUP) are also popular ways to explore the beauty and peaceful waterfront on the coast.
