NOAA & National Marine Sanctuary

Ocean for Life is an international ocean science and cultural exchange program created to inspire a more peaceful world, dawning from the tragic events of September 11, 2001. This unique program brings together high school students of diverse backgrounds to foster cross-cultural relationships, explore marine science, and develop a stewardship ethic for the ocean. Leave No Trace

Keeping the natural places pristine is our #1 Goal. It is our mission to facilitate stewardship though our adventures and so a partnership with Leave No Trace is a natural fit. Channel Islands Outfitters will be teaching LNT Workshops in late 2012.

REI Adventures

In 2012 REI Adventures introduced it’s first offering at the Channel Islands National Park and CIO was selected to be the service provider for their adventures.

Nature Bridge

You may know Nature Bridge through it’s Yosemite Institute. They now have a Santa Monica Mountain Institute which includes programs at Channel Islands National Park. Nature Bridge contracts CIO for all guided kayaking at the Channel Islands National Park.

Santa Barbara County Parks

Serving the Santa Barbara community is very important to CIO. In 2012 CIO will begin two long-term partnerships to provide a valuable service to Santa Barbara residents. Look for the Cachuma Lake Adventure Center and the Paddle Sports Center: Goleta Beach to begin operations Summer 2012!

NOLS: Wilderness Medicine Institute (WMI)

While Preparing our guides for situations in the wilderness we found the Wilderness First Responder course by WMI a perfect course. And so now we have partnered with WMI and NOLS to provide these courses to individuals who feel the same way. Our courses take place at Cachuma Lake where camping is included in the class price!

Sacred Ways

The people of Turtle Island (North America) had a very strong connection to the land that we live on. Much of these old teachings have been discarded and the respect for our earth has been rejected. Sacred Ways is lead by Andrew Soliz, a good friend and healer who is committed to rebuilding the human relationship to the earth and to each other through the old teachings.

City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation

In addition to providing kayak rentals on West Beach in Santa Barbara, CIO is partnering with the Parks and Recreation department to bring Santa Barbara community residents the areas first Aquatics Club.

Wilderness Youth Project (WYP)

We love what this organization does! From the philosophy to the delivery, WYP provides meaningful experiences for children in the Santa Barbara community every year. CIO has partnered with WYP to bring these experiences to the water.

The National Park Service

Since 1997 Channel Islands Outfitters, formerly Paddle Sports of Santa Barbara, has been permitted to operate guided kayak tours at the Channel Islands National Park.

Since 2002 CIO, formerly Paddle Sports of Santa Barbara, has been a welcomed addition to the Santa Barbara Harbor offering water-sport equipment rentals and outstanding service to locals and visitors.
